Yorktown

Historic Yorktown, Virginia is steeped in over 300 hundred years of history. The city is located on the Virginia Peninsula between the James and York Rivers and is only 50 miles from Richmond and a short drive to Norfolk. Like many cities in Hampton Roads, Yorktown residents enjoy hundreds of miles of coastlines and an abundance of creeks and waterways.

The quiet city of Yorktown is a safe haven for residents as it has some of the lowest crime rates in the Hampton Roads area.  A Yorktown home doesn’t stay listed for long, and you can bet it’s because of the great public high schools, two of which rank within top 25 in the state according to U.S. News & World Report.

Yorktown is widely recognized as the site of the surrender of Lord Cornwallis to General George Washington during the American Revolutionary War. Cornwallis’ Cave, which as legend believes was the General’s hiding place during the Revolutionary War, is in Yorktown.

Historic Yorktown’s Riverwalk Landing offers a peek into the county’s 400-year history. There, you can watch tall ships off the shore and enjoy the York River. Those who own a home in Yorktown enjoy great access to water through the Riverwalk Landing Marina and Yorktown Beach.
